He was still basically on his own but what had made it worthwhile was the fact he was helping one of his students to find her way again. That didn't happen often and when it did, it was something to be proud of. As he rode high on Deuce, his thoroughbred, he watched the young woman intently. He was waiting for her to enter the ring on her horse. Today was the day of truth. He would find out if his hard work had really paid off.
His lips curved in a slow smile. In the past few months, he had even gained custody of his daughter, Marisol. After taking it back to court, something he had been almost determined to do from the start, the ruling was that his ex, Genevieve, wasn't fit to be a parent. Though Giovanni wasn't perfect, he knew the ins and outs of what he had to do with his daughter. "Try to smile and hold your head up high!" Giovanni called out, deciding not to elaborate. Judges knew when you were afraid, they could smell your fear and your apprehension from a mile away.
It was his job to ensure his students were the best that they could possibly be out in the ring. "Trust your horse to guide you, unless he's screwing around, in which case you shouldn't be afraid to give him a swift kick and tell him what's what." His methods were harsher than most, he knew that. Did they expect life to take it easy on themSTAFF POSITIONS Hell, the school wasn't there to sugarcoat their lives. The school's purpose was to help them reach their full potential, come hell or high water, and Giovanni was aiding in doing just that, to hell with their feelings. He shook his thoughts away and jerked his mind back to the present, taking note of Taylor's movements and the way she handled her horse. | |

Over the past few months, Taylor and her trainer, Giovanni, had been working on her gaining her trust for her warmblood, Mannie, again. She took a deep breath as she swung into the familiar saddle. Today would be the first time she had jumped on Mannie since the accident. She knew it had to be done. She knew she had to overcome the fear that had made home in her stomach and mind. She cleared her mind. The jumps didn't look that big, maybe 2 or 3 feet.
Her mind escaped the cloud of fear as the trainer ontop his horse spoke, telling her to smile and hold her head up. Taylor smiled, hearing this, and tilted her head up to wear it should be located, not pointing down that she had been riding while she learned to trust again. The gelding's attitude about life in general had lifted ever since the young girl had started riding him again. This made Taylor's smile only grow.
Taylor just smiled, hearing Gio's next comment. She gave him a slight nod, telling him that she had acknowledged him before she moved the already warmed up horse into a canter, doing a courtesy circle, mostly just to calm herself, before heading to the first jump. For some reason, her nerves had already flown away, she didn't know where, but she hoped that they wouldn't come back. She lifted herself up into posistion as the horse lifted up into the air. She had held her breath, however, and only took another as she felt the horse's two front feet land on the ground safely on the dirt on the other side. She brought the horse back down to a trot, estatic that she had actually jumped him.
