Goal for HA: The real reason Bridgit is here is because she’s on the run from an abusive ex, but the reason she will give anyone who asks her this question to her face is that she once used to have a love for horses, but an accident in her family changed that for her and she’s trying to work over that fear. This does happen to be partly true.

Riding History: Bridgit grew up visiting her cousins’ farm every summer. She loved to go to the barn and visit the animals, but more importantly, she loved watching her older cousins and their friends ride the horses. There was something so magical and graceful about how they rode and she wanted to be one of them when she got older.
Unfortunately for her, she was never really graceful when it came to being on a horse and her cousins didn’t want to spend the time teaching someone that wasn’t “a natural,” so she took to simply riding them for the pure enjoyment instead of the sport.
Once her sister was old enough to ride, and ride for sport, she did; unlike Bridgit, Rachelle was a natural and some would say even better than their cousins. One summer afternoon, when Bridgit was fourteen, the two sisters, one of their cousins and a friend decided to go riding. They spent the day enjoying each other’s company as well as the light summer breeze and how horseback riding was meant to be enjoyed. One their way home from their ride, Bridgit and Rachelle (who was twelve at the time) were riding up front of the group. Unknown to them, the pair behind them decided it would be funny to play a joke on the sisters and somehow they got Bridgit’s horse spooked.
As Bridgit’s horse went crazy, so did she and it was up to her sister to help her out of the situation after she calmed her own animal down. It didn’t end well, however, she Rachelle fell off of her own and Bridgit’s horse trampled over her. Rachelle spent hours in surgery and months in ICU before her parents decided to pull the plug and she was gone. Bridgit never returned to the farm.

Example Post: Day Bridgit applied at HA.It was a morning like every other morning, but for some reason, Bridgit awoke feeling like something bad was going to happen. She’d had these feelings very few times in her life, but whenever it happened, something usually happened that was out of sorts; it wasn’t always horrible or life-changing, but she’d learned long ago to trust those days and take into account that one had to be extra careful.
Her eyes stayed closed as she tried desperately to fall back asleep but the slightly wet nose of her puppy nudging her cheek made her open her eyes. With a half-smile upon her face; Bridgit reached over and patted him on the head before stretching and getting up. She dressed and brushed her teeth and then opened the door to her bedroom and went to grab Black’s leash.
She walked him for a few minutes until he did his business and as a dutiful pet owner, she cleaned up after him before returning to her tiny apartment. Locking the door behind her, she undid his leash and then made sure he and Boo – her black kitten – had food and water in their bowls. Once they were fed, she washed her hands before she began working on her own breakfast.
If Bridgit was one thing she was meticulous when it came to the kitchen. She should have been a chef of some sort for all the care she took when cooking, but she always felt it would’ve taken the fun out of cooking if she’d gone to school for the qualifications. Instead, she made herself an omelet with turkey bacon, onions and a pinch of jalapeños, a toasted English muffin and a tall glass of chocolaty chocolate milk.
Once breakfast was over and her animals were relaxing in the living room, she showered and begun getting ready for her interview at Hollow Aspen. To say she was nervous was an understatement; she was downright terrified. It wasn’t that she was nervous about the interview or getting the job, but it was being in a place so close to horses that scared her. The last thing she wanted was to be around the animals that had helped kill her little sister. She understood that it had been her cousin and her cousin’s friend that had been more at fault than the animals, but it didn’t make her feel any better at being around them.
He won’t look here; he knows how afraid you are of these creatures, she found herself chanting as she dressed. The more she said the words “he won’t look here,” the more at ease she felt. If there was one thing she was more afraid of than horses it was her ex.
Swallowing, Bridgit glanced at herself in the mirror and told herself she’d pull through; that she’d get over her fears and over having to run away. He’d never look in Canada much less at a school with a bunch of horses. She’d finally be safe. With a confident smile, she finished putting on some make up and dressed and with a final check on her pets and their food bowls, she blew them kisses and left her home.
Climbing into her car, she took another deep breath, prayed and reminded herself to be happy, confident, herself and careful. Nothing would stand between her and her safety and that meant getting this job. Horses wouldn’t get in her way; her ex wouldn’t either and the feeling she’d had upon waking least of all. Today would be a good day, and with that tiny burst of encouragement, she pulled out of her parking spot and drove the two miles it took her to get to Hollow Aspen for her interview.
