She had a pair of old, ratty sneakers on and her wedding ring was concealed beneath a leather glove. Her dark hair was pulled back into a ponytail and on her head, she wore a baseball hat with the Broncos logo on it. As she mucked out the stalls where the academy's horses were in, she hummed a jaunty, uplifting tune. Vincent continually insisted that she didn't need to work but at the same time, she enjoyed working. It provided her with some semblance of normalcy and helped her to keep her mind off the fact that she'd never see Zebediah again. Whenever her mood got low, she got to working.
That was all there was to it. Of course, if you had told her that she'd marry her sweetheart from high school, she probably would have laughed. Until Vincent, there had never been a need or a want for anybody of the opposite gender. She always had her mind on her studies and spent as much time as she could with her two horses. She had a system to her life, if you will: homework, job, horses, and then husband. She had started dating Vincent when she was seventeen so they had been together approximately four years. Of those four years, they had been married for two years.
Thus far, there hadn't been any talk of children and neither of them were too keen to rush into it. After Vincent's heart attack, Zosime had gone from taking things slowly to taking things at a level that was slower than slow. Whenever presented with the chance, they spent time together. It just made things easier on the both of them. As she reached Havoc's stall, the buckskin stallion tried to get her attention. "Fine, you big lug." She muttered, giving him a sugar cube as she affectionately rubbed his velvety nose. | |
