It had been one of those things that had gone in one ear and out the other. Giovanni never asked for much, other than to have his teaching style left the fuck alone. The students learned, they had a good time, and he got paid. Period. "Today, you're going to learn how to memorize a course, run it without fault, and be faster than your opponent but if you already know how, do it anyway; set an example for those that don't know." He said, shifting in his saddle as he gestured toward the course layout that had been taped up on the ring's post.
He had made it so simple a little kid could do it. As time went on, he would make the courses more challenging and the stakes higher. "Now, we're going to do this alphabetically and no, I don't mean by your names. Cohaero students will go first, Fidens students will go second, and Polleo students will go last. In the very order I have just given you, you will go up to the course sheet and memorize it within five minutes and if you do not, that's on you." He said with a nonchalant shrug as his horse snorted and tossed his head.
The black thoroughbred he rode was an impatient creature that never enjoyed standing still for long periods of time. "I will be judging you all as if this is a real show. Those that come in either first, second, or third will receive extra credit. The rest of you that either don't make one of those spots or simply get 'disqualified' by show standards will receive the regular grade." He paused, making eye contact with each of his students. "I wish you all the best of luck and if there aren't any questions, you may begin." He pulled his stopwatch out of his pocket.
As he held it, he was reminded of something he had forgotten to tell them. "If we're going to make this like a real show, we're going to separate you into classes and you cannot start until your name is called. I don't want you to run each other over on your way to the ring. My suggestion to you would be to get your asses in gear and start making up your groups now. I highly encourage that you mingle your teams and get a feel for the other teams for when the real competitions come." He leaned back in his saddle and rolled his shoulders, watching curiously how the students mingled. Some were adults and some were teenagers so it was usually interesting or at least, for him it was. By nature, he was a people watcher. | |
