PICTURE GOES HEREEEg [/IMG] the temperatures of bc had already started changing from cool to hot, and the trees were losing their flowers from spring and getting brighter with their green leaves. though many people thought this was one of the most beautiful times of the year, there were also a lot that frowned upon this weather. the bright, hot sun practically burned the Earth to a crisp. but people had learned to deal with it. while it was one of the most beautiful times of the year, it could also be one of the most annoying. not to mention the hotter air temperatures because of the changing season. for many famous and non-famous photographers, though, summer was a lovely time to get out and take pictures. the pretty colors of the bright sky and beautiful sunsets in the backgrounds of your picture could add the perfect contrast that you need to make you photo perfect.
the was almost all one girl could think about as she strolled into the barn. she wore tan riding pants, black boots, and a long sleeved white shirt, accessorizing with a couple bracelets, a necklace, and her camera that she took with the wherever she went. the strap held the camera around her neck so that she felt comfortable to just walk around without having to hold the camera all the time. she looked to be about 17 or 18, but she was truly a 19 year old girl, and one of the students at the barn and school that she was visiting on this day. she had moved here to be able to keep her horse after her parents died, and she had been working hard to keep herself there and to improve her skills with her young gelding as well.
her name was jessica avery maril, and as she walked into the tack room, she snapped a few shots just because she thought the lighting was just perfect to accent the tack and other products in there. when she was done, she didn't even bother looking over them to make sure they were good, but instead went to the hook that held her boy's halter and bridle. she picked up the bright blue halter and lead rope and, swinging the lead rope in a small circle, made her way to the stall that her horse was kept in. the gelding already had his head stuck out of the stall, waiting for jessie to get there, and it wasn't long before she had him haltered and was leading him to the cross ties closest to his stall, leaving the stall door open. after the previous show that they had entered in, jessica had decided that she needed to work a lot on the patterns of the upcoming shows. they needed practice, and so she quickly groomed her horse, making his coat shine before throwing his saddle on, tightening the girth just enough to keep the saddle on before pulling his bridle. she put on her helmet, and in no time was leading him out to the outdoor arena where she knew jumps had already been set up.
as soon as she was in the arena, she shut the gate before turning to her horse, tightening his girth and letting down his stirrups. once she was sure she was ready to go, she lead the gelding over to the mounting block and hopping on him, immediately moving him to walk around the arena. the horse obeyed without hesitating and she walked him around the arena twice before starting on her course, flying over the jumps, ending up with only a few rails knocked down. she then sighed, shaking her head. that wasn't good enough. she wanted a flawless performance. jessica hopped gracefully off her horse and set the rails back up, adjusting some to a higher rail. she then quickly walked her horse back to the mounting block, hopping on him once more. she, again, pushed dirty little secret into a walk, walking him only once around the arena before starting the course, completing it with ease, a perfect run. a smile crossed the young girl's face as she gave her horse a pat, starting to walk him around the arena yet again, planning to run the course again once she gives him a small break.

It was a good day for Felix. The weather was good, his homework all completed, his chores dealt with, and all before it was too hot to ride. He had made his way to the barn from his dorm at a leisurely pace, and had taken his time taking Kadar out of his stall and grooming him. The stallion had a large pee stain on one of his white patches on his hindquarters, so Felix used his show sprays, and a bit of whitening shampoo and water to remove the stain. He then sprayed the stallions mane and tail with show sheen, and picked through them with his fingers - a tedious, but rewarding task. Kadars mane and tail looked fabulous when he had finished. However, they were growing too long. So Felix took his scissors from his grooming tote and carefully shortened the stallions mane, being cautious about every snip he made. Then he moved to the tail and grabbed the ends in one big handful, cutting it to the canon bone. It was a bit too short but would grow, and he was playing a game with Kadar's tail - he would chop it off, and it would come back a bit thicker. Felix had never seen the stallions tail look so full and lush. After all of this Felix grabbed his cordless clippers and trimmed Kadar's whiskers around his muzzle and eyes, and then clipped the excess hair from his ears. The stallion stood with a hind leg cocked, thoroughly enjoying the attention, and entirely calm. Felix stood back and admired his work. Aside from his unpainted hooves and unplaited mane and tail, Kadar looked show-ready. He was fit, shiny, and well-groomed.
Felix grabbed his tack and got Kadar ready for a workout. Once the stallion stood ready to go in the cross-ties, Felix sprayed him briskly with fly spray, put away his grooming tote, and unclipped him. They headed out the back of the barn toward the outdoor ring where people often jumped. Felix had been doing a lot of dressage work with the stallion and he wanted to keep his mind fresh and open to learning things, instead of getting bored doing the same maneuvers again and again and again. It would become monotonous and 'work' for Kadar. Felix needed Kadar to enjoy what he was doing. He expected the ring to be packed, but it wasn't - there was only one girl there, jumping her gelding over some decent sized jumps. Upon reaching the gate, Felix stopped to watch. They failed to clear a couple and he saw the girl shake her head in disappointment, or unacceptance. She dismounted and righted the jumps, remounting using the mounting block. The man turned his head to Kadar, smiling at the way the horse was flaring his nostrils, his ears pricked, at the sight of the jumps in the ring. "I guess you want to get in there, hey boySTAFF POSITIONS Alright. Let's go." Kadar pranced to the entrance of the ring, where Felix let them through the gate carefully. Checking his girth, Felix mounted in one swift motion. When Kadar was younger, it was easy to mount, but as the stud grew, he grew tall. It was only recently that Felix became able to mount without a mounting block. Before Kadar, the tallest horse Felix had ridden was 16.2hh.
Felix didn't stop Kadar as the stallion moved forward at a brisk walk without a cue. The stallion was eager, and Felix appreciated that. He avoided the girl and the lines she was jumping, although he did nod a couple of times to her until he was sure he had caught her eye. He wasn't the friendliest guy out there, but he wasn't a total asshole. The stallion moved up on his own into a jittery trot. Felix picked up his reins, making contact with the stallions mouth. He chewed softly on the bit, but listened to Felix' aides, responding to the mans seat, hands, and legs. He moved into a long-legged working trot, his ears pricked and his neck arched eagerly as he turned his head in toward the center of the ring, where the lines were. They trotted like this in both directions, Felix doing various lateral exercises with Kadar to get him warm and limber. After a time he pushed the horse into a working canter, happy at how responsive he was being. Again they did some lateral work, and then Felix halted him, patting him firmly on the neck. He turned to the girl. "We're going to give the jumps a go, OKSTAFF POSITIONS Watch yourself." Pushing Kadar into a canter from a halt, he aimed down the center of one of the lines. The stallions pace quickened and Felix sat down and back more, easing Kadar back so they could time it properly. Kadar responded, and they reached the first jump just a half a stride off. The stallion bucked up his front legs, arching his body over the jump as Felix rose into two-point, his release perfect. Their arrival back on Earth was perfect, and the horse continued on like this down the line; perfect take off and perfect landing, with Felix riding like a pro. He had been taking lessons recently and working out certain muscle groups in his spare time as well as reading theory books to attempt to improve everything he was doing. Judging from how exalted he felt, and how well Kadar was performing, it was paying off.

PICTURE GOES HEREEEg [/IMG] forgetting the course and now, knocking down railsSTAFF POSITIONS this was just unacceptable. of course, she knew the knocking down of rails was due to the laziness of her horse, dusty, but she wouldn't accept it. using her crop and leg strength, she pushed her horse into a fast trot before smacking him on his rump to push him into a canter. sure, it probably seemed harsh to hit him so hard, but had she not, he wouldn't have done what she asked. she knew her horse well, now, and she knew that on the hot, summer days, he was one of the laziest horses in the barn. a good smack with the whip did him some good every now and then.
the gelding moved with grace around the arena, circling it as jessica got him working a bit more, noticing another rider enter the ring as she rounded a corner. jess slowed dusty to a rising trot, smiling slightly at the other rider when he nodded to her, giving a slight nod back before attempting the jumps again. once finished with a few jumps, she slowed the gelding to a walk, letting him catch his breath a little as she turned to the other rider when he spoke. "oh not a problem. take as much time as you need." she said, her words accented with the flavor of an australian. she hoped that it wasn't too obvious, though, for she didn't want to be known and liked only for her accent. in fact, she wished she didn't have it at some points. it only got in the way, and she often found that people were only befriending her because of her accent and where she came from.
she watched as the guy flew easily over the jumps, both him and his horse looking perfect in form. she wished so desperately that she could look perfect as she jumped. she knew she had a few things to work on with her form, and she hated how perfect others looked and how easy they made it seem. she sighed, smiling over at him as he finished, still walking her gelding around the arena. "that was quite lovely..." she complimented, watching him for a moment more before looking away again, paying more attention to her own horse now, but doesn't move to take him into a trot or canter, just letting him walk for a little while. she was trying to cool him down a little so that he might not be so stubborn when she did ask him to do work. his laziness was a hard thing to work with, but jess had learned a few tricks to keep the horse going as they trained.

Feeling totally elated from his stallion performance, Felix brought him back to a walk. He let his reins go loose and patted the stallion firmly. The girl looked a tad preoccupied with her thoughts when he looked at her. Of course he was looking to see her expression; was she impressed by his performance, and the stallions natural talentSTAFF POSITIONS Or was he over-interpreting his skills, and would he see a look of disgust on her faceSTAFF POSITIONS Naturally he saw neither and so he quickly looked away and attempted to appear disinterested as he worked through what she could be thinking. Was she even watching meSTAFF POSITIONS Felix wondered. Not that he was exactly an attention hog, but his lack of confidence in his own abilities over fences lead him to be an extreme worrywart. If he jumped with others in the ring he wouldn't accept feedback of any kind, but he was always watching them to see if he could read their minds. He doesn't enjoy judgmental people (which is entirely hypocritical) and if he can call someone on it, he will.
However as Felix was pondering this indecisively (did she watch, if she did, is she impressed, or did I totally bugger it up) the girl piped up, in what Felix had to admit to himself was a totally adorable Australian accent. "That was quite lovely..." and just like that, boom, all of his worries were gone. She was probably all wrapped up in herself, worrying about whether or not he had been judging her, because she was so impressed with him and Kadar - that had to be it. The reason for the distant expression on her face when he had finished the line. Felix flashed her a charming smile over his shoulder, patting Kadar again. "Thank you, miss. Kadar here is a pretty damn impressive horse, yeahSTAFF POSITIONS " He pushed his calf into the stallions side and he responded beautifully, turning in a half circle so they were facing the girl again. By this time she and her gelding were walking again.
She definitely was not a Fidens, but did that really matterSTAFF POSITIONS At Hollow Aspen it seemed as though people had difficulty exhibiting team spirit, and there were no written rules saying teams couldn't co-mingle, so why notSTAFF POSITIONS Kadar was going in the same direction as the girl and her gelding, and Felix pushed him into a slow collected trot. He slowed the horse back to a walk again as they were a good couple horse lengths away, beside the gelding. Kadar was a good boy but it would be just his luck that he'd lash out at the gelding today of all days, when everything seemed to be going so well for Felix. "I'm Felix Caordan. Nice to meet you." Normally he would've offered her his hand, but they were so far away, he just smiled again, hoping she would see it as charming and friendly, instead of devious and cheesy.

PICTURE GOES HEREEEg [/IMG] she was truly jealous of how perfect his horse had been while going through the line. he got the perfect amount of strides when approaching the jumps, the courage of the horse to jump over all of the jumps, and the lead changes that he managed to get perfectly. jessica wished that she could be that perfect. that her horse could be that perfect. she loved her horse, but he was a piece of work and refused jumps all the time. as he finished the line, jessie couldn't help but to worry if he had seen the flaws in her performance. she was going through the many flaws in her performance, comparing them to his performance of perfection. she could only hope that he hadn't judged her ride enough to see that she was far from perfect on her horse.
at last, she offered him a compliment, and he seemed to gladly take it. she hoped for a compliment in return, but she didn't expect to get one. even if she did, she wouldn't accept it. she drove toward perfection, and anything but was absolutely terrible in her eyes. Thank you, miss. Kadar here is a pretty damn impressive horse, yeahSTAFF POSITIONS his words reached her ears and she sighed slightly, almost disappointed at not hearing a compliment, but she quickly got over it, smiling and nodding towards him. "Very impressive... Far better than my horse will ever be..." she stated, watching as he moved his horse to walk next to hers. he kept his horse at a distance, and jessica couldn't help but to wonder if his horse was a little less well behaved than she had first believed. but even the most friendly, calm horse in the world could freak out at another horse.
I'm Felix Caordan. Nice to meet you he said, and jessica smiled at the introduction, examining his very charming smile. "It is quite a pleasure to meet you, Felix Caordan. I am Jessica Maril." she spoke with a sweet tone, knowing no other way to talk to people, and she kept a smile on her face for him. she could only hope that he would not recognize her name from when she was disqualified, and that he would, instead, recognize her as being apart of her team, though she could tell that he was definitely not on her team.
