HOME LIFE...
Parents: Kate Ricardi and Doug Ricardi
Siblings: Natalie Ricardi
Other: As a thirteen-year-old, Emma convinced her fifteen-year-old sister to go out on horseback in the woods behind their house. Natalie, a girlie girl by nature, protests but Emma blackmails her by threatening to show their parents Natalie's latest, not-s0-great report card. However, when Emma knowingly takes Natalie onto private property, the ex-convict rancher holds them both against their will to satasfy his own sick needs. Emma manages to escape, but Natalie isn't so lucky. When Emma alerts her parents that Natalie is being held captive, Kate and Doug automatically blame Emma. By the time the police are notified and get to the scene, neither man or teen are anywhere to be found. Three months later, Natalie's remains are found by Emma herself washed up on the shoreline of a nearby river. The only way Emma could identify her sister's body was by the rusted charm bracelet which she kept to remind herself that she is the reason her sister is dead. Emma is sure her parents will never forgive her, and she's not so sure she can ever forgive herself.
Riding History: Emma has been riding since she was a toddler, being led around on her daddy's old cow pony. As she reached her preteen years, she saved up for her own horse but never seemed to find the right match. Although she is a talented and confident rider, she is by no means a polished rider as she always lacked cash to pay for a coach. Because her parents were always distraught or greiving, Emma felt that the only ones who truly loved her and held nothing against her were the horses she trained and resold. Emma has been looking for that one equine partner to help her make it to the top, to help her escape the horrors of her past. But now she thinks she's found the perfect gelding to let her acheive just that...if only a horse of his caliber can be good enough to come with her to Hollow Aspen.

Example Post: minimum 200 words! All of a sudden Kate frowned. Something was wrong. The King was powering toward the finish line, ten lengths, then twelve lengths, in front of the other sixteen horses. He seemed to be going strong, but Kate’s stomach twisted. Every time Simba’s right foreleg struck the ground, the colt’s ears flicked and he raised his head slightly.
Reaching for her mother’s arm, Kate said hoarsely, “Pull him up, Johnny!” She squeezed her mother’s arm, her face draining of colour.
Mrs. Quepelle looked at Kate, taking her eyes off the track. “What are you talk - ”
She didn’t have a chance to finish her sentence.
“Simba!” Kate shouted, standing up. Tears filled her eyes.
On the track, a loud snap had been heard. Johnny Mahn was trying desperately to yank the colt back, but the King wanted to win. He was bred to win. He fought the bit, his eyes wide with pain but his heart telling him to finish the race.
“And King of Beasts’ jockey is pulling him up! The colt appears to have injured his leg!”
The announcer’s comment barely registered in Kate’s mind. Her heart was breaking as tears streamed down her face. Her beloved colt crossed the finish line in first place, just by a head since he’d been pulled up so much. But that didn’t matter to Kate anymore. What mattered was the fact that the colt was limping extremely bad and Johnny couldn’t appear to stop him as the other racehorses blasted past.
