M Y C R A Z Y A N G E L i've got to take you home again tonight cause right now you paralyze me with your smile- - - - - - - - - - - - -
With a heavy sigh Danielle flopped back in her chair, resting the back of her head on the head rest. Staring up at the ceiling she briskly fumbled with the ends of her long curly blonde hair. Around her students passed by, some stopping to get a fountain drink from the lounge concessions then moving on to wherever better they had to be. Or to a place they knew was better than this gay lounge. Or even this whole academy. Why did people come here anywaySTAFF POSITIONS To travel thousands of miles to a place where everyone looks at you like a nobody – throwing away your reputation built up since the beginning of time.. all in order to leave it all and become unimportant. Unknown. Of course Dani knew being accepted to such an academy as so was a huge achievement. Tons of people clambered to be accepted, and most are turned away. Maybe she would have felt different if she had applied herself, or suggested to her parents that she would come hereSTAFF POSITIONS Yet such feelings would never be found, thanks to her ever so lovely of a dick of a father. But there was truly no reason to feel sorry for herself, it wasn’t like anything was going to change. So Danielle did what she was best at, made the best of it.
However such possibilities were clearly a tad bit difficult to accomplish. Danielle had just arrived and had rarely been around the grounds. She had taken a tour of the barns and areans, some of the classrooms and such – but didn’t exactly know anything in particular. Especially any place where you could really do something. She literally knew no one. School hadn’t yet began, a few summer classes were going..so she thought.. yet she was eager to start the year as a freshman in college. The days of high school were far gone now. The only life she knew was over, and a whole new world was about to open up. Danielle lifted her head and looked down to her phone in her lap. She toyed with it for a moment, flipping in over numerous times before picking it up and looking through it. She did this often, like most people did when they didnt want to come off to others like they had no life – or when they felt that looking busy would steer away unwanted conversations.
As she scanned through the hundreds of pictures she couldn’t help but reminisce her high school days. The many sleepless nights, all the people, the rodeos – and all of the buckles. She had made it clear that she was to make a print on that town, and she did. She was the wild child who followed in her older brother’s footsteps. She was everyones friend, and everyone knew her. Danielle was a daredevil and would do anything that came to mind with no regrets. But none of it mattered now. Talking about her days as rodeo queen back then made her a goddess. But now, when brought up in a conversation the only reply she would get was a ‘oh that’s cool’. Meaningless. However it was hard for Dani to get over it, she had always had a problem with letting go of the past. Her job was to live in the now, make herself known – yet all with the influence of the past.
Lifting her blue eyes she scanned the large room, noting the few people sitting about either on laptops or talking with others. After a full scan she rose to her feet and made her way to the counter. She met eyes with a young man behind the counter and gave a bewitching smile. Resting her elbows on the counter she cradled her head in her hands and looked up at him, still smiling. The boy shied away behind his glasses and glanced down. Danielle quietly laughed and looked around at the stands of candy and list of prices. ”I need something to please me.” She soothingly teased, acting intrigued about the junk food. The boy glanced at her again as she met eye contact with another tempting grin. He hesitated as he began to mess with his ungroomed hair then turned to the price board. Adjusting his glasses he slightly gulped and cleared his throat. ”We-well.. um we have a lot of candy.” He blurted out. Danielle gave a chuckle and shifted her feet, sticking out the butt her Miss Me’s and turning her head curiously. ”I see that. Why don’t you choose something. Im sure a guy like you knows what a girl really wants.” Danielle smiled, eyeing the nervous employee. His eyes widened and gave a small cough. As the boy scrambled through the candy she rose up straight and waited, crossing her arms. After a moment the boy grabbed a Milky Way and looked at Danielle with an awkward smile. Too easy.. She then grabbed the chocolate bar, slightly touching her fingers to his ‘unintentionally’ and letting out another alluring smile. ”How muchSTAFF POSITIONS ” She asked, rolling the bar around in her hands. ”Uh-uh..Its on me.” He replied, trying to copy her attractive smile and lowering his voice but failing miserably. Danielle popped up, ”Why thank you baby doll.” She winked and turned away to return to her seat.
With a taunting laugh she plopped down and threw her boots up on the foot rest. Shaking her head at the foolish boy she unwrapped the Milky Way and tore off a small piece. Tossing it in her mouth she began to glance around, observing the scenery. Her self-goals began reeling through her head. Get noticed, get known, get a reputation.. First she needed a right-hand girl, or guy. Either one would work. Even several. Hell, eventually they would all become that any way.. so she hoped.

••• I said I wish that we could stay here. But I fear our time has come.We could ride out in the darkness, chasing the rising sun. •••
Avery stared at her laptop screen, tapping her fingers on the small, circular table with a bored expression on her face. She looked up from the computer as her earth toned irises flitted around the shabby student lounge. In her few years at Hollow Aspen she had only set foot in the place a few times and had never stayed long. Now she had been sitting in the uncomfortable wooden chair for over an hour and trying to entertain herself while she hid out from her emotional dorm room mate. The poor girl had just been broken up with by her boyfriend and no consoling or ice cream would help her. The best thing to do would be to stay far, far away until the picture frames stopped shattering to the ground and the angry denial/self blaming period simmered to a halt.
Her eyes scanned over the other students in the lounge. A few were on laptops like she was, some others talking with friends, and a few sat alone. Nothing really spiked her interest so she returned to her laptop and logged into her email account. She deleted some of the junk emails immediately, having no interest in enlarging the size of her penis or helping out some Nigerian scam artist. She rolled her eyes at the forward emails from her aunt, quickly deleting those as well. Who had time to read all of those, anywaySTAFF POSITIONS Finally she sifted through the emails from her parents. Her mother's were upbeat, supportive, and inquisitive. She wanted to know all about her summer so far, what classes she was taking the next year, how she was doing in general. Her father on the other hand was a different breed. He was cold hearted, extremely serious, and she could never live up to his expectations. Reading through a email of his about how she should apply herself to school more and how disappointed he was that she wasn't attending any summer classes or seminars, she slowly clicked delete and kneaded her forehead with her hand. When would he realize that she was still young and didn't have to have this serious wall around her. She wanted to enjoy her summer, not waste it away in useless seminars.
She closed her laptop with an annoyed sigh, slipping it into her leather shoulder bag. It barely fit since the bag was on the smaller size but she managed. Placing her elbow on the table, she leaned her head against her hand and looked around the room again, her eyes falling on a tall blonde woman talking to the nerdy worker at the concession counter. Avery was close enough to hear what was happening and casually eavesdropped on their conversation. She pursed her lips, trying not to laugh out loud as the young woman teasingly flirted with the boy behind the counter. He was practically about to hyperventilate and pass out based on the way he was stuttering and sweating. The blonde easily played him, having him on his knees in less than three minutes. Avery liked this girl already.
She watched as the girl victoriously took her candy bar and walked back to her seat. The geeky candy boy would remember the blonde and probably pay for her concessions from now on all because of those few exchanged words. It really was quite impressive. Pushing her seat back, Avery got up and slung her bag over her shoulder. She walked over to the blonde's table and plopped down in the seat besides her, lightly clapping with a bemused expression on her face. "Now that…was impressive. You had him eating out of your hands in less than three minutes. Definitely try that at the bookstore and see if you can get away with a few textbooks," the brunette chuckled. Hi, I'm Avery. I'm guessing you're new hereSTAFF POSITIONS I haven't seen you around before," she extended a hand toward her with a friendly smile.

M Y C R A Z Y A N G E L i've got to take you home again tonight cause right now you paralyze me with your smile- - - - - - - - - - - - -
After a few more bites Danielle let out another pathetic sigh. She felt the sudden urge to get up and go anywhere else but there, yet it was pretty much impossible when you had nowhere to go. Her dorm hadn’t yet been set up so it wasn’t like she could go and lock herself inside and blare her music like normally. Then again she hated being alone, and silence. Silence tended to make her cringe. Hence the loud music. Although she didn’t exactly know why she hated it so – probably due to the fact she was never used to it. Dani was a very social person who loved to talk. She was good at blowing off awkward moments and always found a way to flawlessly pull off a trip or a blonde moment. What could she say, she made the best out of everything. Scanning the area once again she observed more people pass by oblivious to the beckoning of the dull room. Tucking a strand of hair behind one ear she turned back to the concession counter. She instantly caught the nerdy candy boy’s gaze burning into her skin and threw a seductive smile before whirling back in her chair and wiping off the expression with a creeped out shudder.
Boys were so numskulled, always trying to catch up to a woman’s antics yet clearly oblivious to their crude ways. It was too easy to play men nowadays. Example: nerdy candy boy. Trying to rid the sight of his beaming gaze she broke off another piece of the chocolate bar and plopped it in her mouth. Suddenly she found herself sharing space with a slender brunette. Danielle gave a confused laugh as the girl applauded her. As the stranger awed about her skit with the candy boy Dani’s expression grew soft as she let out an honored laugh. ”ImpressiveSTAFF POSITIONS Now getting free books from an old librarian lady would be impressive.” Dani sarcastically replied, laughing at the thought.
The candy boy was nothing. Danielle was used to guys like that –soft and easy to win over. It was boring and all too common. No, like normal Dani was the kind of girl who went after the dicks. She enjoyed toying with her minds and being messed with back. It was all about the challenge and the will to have the last say. She never was in a relationship to make it last. If it came and went, that was that. She had her fun and now it was onto the next contestant.
Danielle smiled as the girl introduced herself and reached out a hand to slightly shake hers. Finally, someone to talk to. ”Im Danielle, call me Dani. Yeah, I just got here.” She announced, her tone growing slightly dull as she neared the end of her sentence. It was difficult to hid her emotional scream for home. Yet she didn’t care, Dani was as flat out as she could be. She didn’t hide anything. The truth hurt, and so did lies. Easier to tell the truth and get it out instead of burying yourself in a hole of drama. ”Guys around here seem to be so easy.” She added with a insulting laugh, feeling sarcastically saddened for the academy. Yet she prayed all the guys weren’t like that. If so she would most certainly suffer in this prison. Dani had noticed a few good looking men walking down the halls, and it gave some hope. And hopefully her new team would turn out to actually be normal people. However if so, Dani would still be their friends. Why notSTAFF POSITIONS If they could stand her slightly arrogant and boasting personality – they were in. Besides, Danielle was a sweetheart – some of the time.

••• I said I wish that we could stay here. But I fear our time has come.We could ride out in the darkness, chasing the rising sun. •••
The brunette stretched her legs out under the table, already cramping up from sitting for so long in the uncomfortable wooden chairs. Avery wasn't used to being in the same place for long. Especially during the summer when there was one social event going on after another. Being the extroverted person she was, she hated spending even a moment alone. Because of this, she lavished her attention on the unfamiliar slim blonde sitting across from her. She chuckled with her new acquaintance and ran a hand through her wavy brown locks to get them out of her face. She could practically see that scene now with their frumpy, elderly librarian who smelled like Bengay cream in place. The flirting scheme played out with the nerdy candy boy certainly wouldn't work on the grumpy old lady. "Yes, that would be quite the feat. It'd take a little more imagination, that's for sure, but I bet it could be done somehow," the brunette replied, a mischievous glint taking over her earth hued eyes.
Avery returned her easy smile as they shook hands. She really hated the formality of handshakes but was raised with the belief that when you met someone you shook their hand. Just another thing her detached father had burned into her brain. The teen nodded her head slowly in understanding and gave her a sympathetic look as her tone dropped. "Hmm, I take it your not a big fan of Hollow Aspen so far, Dani," the girl replied in a softhearted tone. She knew that feeling very well. As a child she was uprooted from her home multiple times when her dad advanced in the business world. She would lose her town, home, and friends and be thrown into some new place where she was expected to go on like nothing happened. Make new friends, try to make your new house feel like a home, learn your new town like the back of your hand. But when she was finally settled in, she'd be uprooted again. It took a toll on her childhood but it also strengthened her in a number of ways. She learned early on that she had to come out of her shell, had to be outgoing, and had to take risks if she wanted to enjoy herself. Moping and wishing on every shooting star that you could return to the past got you nowhere.
Laughing at her comment she flashed Dani a devious smile. "Oh god no. If they were all like nerdy candy boy, I would have packed my bags and left a long time ago," she admitted with a mocking glance at the concession counter. A shudder ran through her as she imagined if all of the guys at the boarding school were like nerdy candy boy. There would be no challenge. No chase. Where would the fun beSTAFF POSITIONS "You, my friend, are just not looking in the right areas. The student loungeSTAFF POSITIONS Lame. I've been here for a while now and avoid this place like the plague. You'll never meet an interesting guy in here. Only socially awkward ones or high school freshman who don't know any better." It was funny, Avery already felt pretty comfortable hanging around Dani. She had a good sense of humor and had already saved the brunette from dying of boredom. "Oh, what team are you onSTAFF POSITIONS " She hadn't seen the blonde around the Fidens' dorm halls but then again she didn't know when she had moved in.

Danielle awkwardly laughed at the thought of an old hag standing behind the counter, holding a book at staring at her. ”I don’t think I could stand to see the outcome if I did try. I wouldn’t know how to get myself out of some lesbo librarian checking me out every time I saw her.” She replied, giving a swift laugh and shuddering at the thought. Dani didn’t all care about homosexuals, although she did laugh at the flamers in short pink shorts and v-necks that cut all the way down past their chests – but she herself was completely straight. Minus her drunken spells where she cant help but love on every one. She was a lover..and a fighter who seemed to know how to mix the two quite nicely when completely wasted off her ass. Dani could recall many nights, and many pictures, of her and her girls at parties. Her friends were her life, they were the only ones who could handle her when she could no longer handle herself at times. She rarely ever denied a dare – which usually led her to passing out in the bathtub. Even once in someones tanning bed, turned off of course.
As they finished shaking hands she crossed her arms and brought her boots up unto her chair to lean against the arm rest. Danielle gave a irritated huff and glanced away before shaking her head and looking back at Avery. ”Not at all. I mean, the riding I couldn’t be any happier with. But right now Im hating just being here in general.” She muttered, fidgeting her arms as she tried to keep from ranting about her father. ”Maybe I wouldn’t feel this way if it was my suggestion to come here and not some sort of banishment by my dad. But its whatever, gotta make the best of it anyway.” Dani added, growling. Why did her dad have to be like thatSTAFF POSITIONS Ever since her brother’s death he had turned into some kind of dictator with a rock as a heart. Dani still couldn’t come to understand it, especially when he shunned everyone for trying to consult with him. Soon enough Danielle gave up, just like she did with anyone else who didn’t put in the effort to fix a problem.
The irritated expression quickly grew into a copied devious smile as she listen to Avery. Oh how she instantly knew they were gonna be great friends. Danielle laughed and sighed as if she had been holding her breath for hours. ”Oh, thank God.” She laughed, nodding her head. Again she glanced around as Avery listed the usual occupants of the lounge. Across the table she noticed a short girl with harry potter glasses buried in an old romance novel, the kind of romances where you can only dream that events like those were actually real. Clearly.. Laughing Danielle turned back to Avery and looked at her mischievously. ”Well I can promise you that Im neither of those! My damn dorm hasn’t apparently been set up yet or whatever and my freak of a sponsor lady left me here.” Danielle wrapped her arms around her shins and nodded at Avery anxiously. ”But I feel you def know where the hot guys are, rightSTAFF POSITIONS Ive gotta feeling were gonna hit it off just dandy.” Her southern Texas accent bled out from her words. ”Im on Cohaero. Havent met anyone from there though. What about youSTAFF POSITIONS ” She asked, intrigued as she prayed Avery was on her team. If not, oh well. Gives the ability to really wreak havoc. She couldn’t wait to get things rolling. It was about time someone brought some excitement to this school.

••• I said I wish that we could stay here. But I fear our time has come.We could ride out in the darkness, chasing the rising sun. •••
Avery stuck out her tongue, wrinkling her nose in distaste at the thought. "Oh god, you would not want to get yourself into that situation. I hear she has 20 cats." She laughed, shuddering at the thought. The frumpy librarian reminding her of her crazy estranged great aunt who lived alone in a mildewy house with her cat companions. It was a sad life, one that Avery wished on no one. Okay maybe that wasn't true. If the person was truly awful, then maybe they deserved it. As far as the lesbo part went, the brunette was pretty accepting of homosexuals. Freshman year her former best friend declared herself gay and started wearing plaid shirts exclusively. Avery had hung out with her and her new group of friends, a few of the guys wearing shirts with questionably low v-necks. Why do they think people want to see their chest hairSTAFF POSITIONS Or do they just not careSTAFF POSITIONS But they slowly stopped hanging out after a few awkward encounters at a party. The teen did not swing that way in the slightest so she was always a tiny bit unsettled around lesbians.
She locked her hands together behind her head, leaning back in her chair as she listened to Dani. She nodded as the blonde spoke, a concerned look crossing her face before morphing into a look of understanding. She brought her arms back down, letting them slip into her lap as her body tensed slightly at the thought of her dad. "Is your dad a jerk tooSTAFF POSITIONS " Avery could think of many other words for her own father. Unfeeling, heartless, unloving, an asshole but she didn't want to say anything that might offend the blonde about her own father. Family matters were personal and close to the heart. "That sucks the he sent you here without seeing if you really wanted to even be here. Having to leave your home must have been awful." She sighed and met the girl's eyes for a moment. "I'm actually the opposite, I came here to escape my father's constant judgement," releasing her lip, the brunette realized she had been biting down on it a little to much and ran her tongue over the now raw spot. "You're right though, might as well make the best of it. Every dark cloud has a silver lining," the girl replied with a dry laugh, thinking of the childish saying. She could think of quite a few situations where there was no silver lining to said dark cloud.
Avery laughed, her body softening as Dani sighed with relief at the fact that not all the guys at Hollow Aspen were so easy to win over. The brunette's earth tinted eyes quickly flitted around the room at the poor souls that filled it. Their bookworm heads were either stuck in novels or playing some kind of nerdy game on their laptops. She shuddered and turned back to the slender blonde. They so did not belong in that lounge. Returning her mischievous grin, her eyes lit up. "Whew! Finally someone fun around here, she exclaimed, ignoring a girl in nerdy glasses who overheard her and was now staring daggers into the side of her face. "Oh damn, that sucks. Of course they leave you in the most boring building on campus, too," she rolled her eyes, thinking of the school's sponsors. They were seriously a joke and knew nothing about the boarding school. What did they even doSTAFF POSITIONS Dump new students off in the loser loungeSTAFF POSITIONS How was that helping them…"I'll be sure to help you out, girl," she replied as her lips spread into a devilish half smile. She liked Dani already. "Oh, I think we will too." She heard Dani's accent in her words, wondering if she was from Texas. She had a few relatives who lived there so the accent was quite distinct in her head. "Ahhh dang. I'm on Fidens but I hear there are some great people on Cohaero, although I don't know a lot of them personally. Definitely a few hotties, though." The brunette was disappointed that they weren't on the same team since they hit it off so well, but thankfully the Cohaero and Fidens dorms were pretty close to one another. It wouldn't be a far walk at all since the two dorms were practically neighbors. Her eyes glimmered at the thought. Dani seemed like the perfect friend to start some trouble with. God knows Hollow Aspen needed a little excitement.
