Echo's filled the barn as she led Dex down the aisle. The brunette corrected him as he attempted to touch noses with the other curious equine. Perfectly swept concrete supported tons of hay, tack, and horses. Murmuring random notes to herself, Jade checked out the horses lounging in grand stalls. When the feminine was younger, Hidden Dusk seemed huge. Although you could fit 3 of there barns, all in the one main barn. "Cohaero, schedule A, #34..." thoughts spilled through her mouth. Jade's first day across the nation, and continent, was awkward, unnatural, and confusing.
Dexter's Lab. Finally. By now, the bay overo was all too excited for Jade to handle. She grabbed the handle, and slid the door open to lead Dex in. "This is your new home, buddy. I hope it's comfortable enough for you." A smile filled her face as she untied the lime green rope halter attached to a cotton, black lead. Her geldings colors. Jade checked her phone. Darn. Another text from Jake, her ex-boyfriend from Knoxville. jst lve me alone and sht up. She wrote. Apparently, two weeks of this attitude wouldn't stop him.
The brunette walked back to the rented trailer. She pulled out the last of her tack, including barrel reins, wraps, shipping boots, and other knick-knacks she could fit in a wheel barrow. Finally, she was unpacked. Jade laid out on the haybale she pulled over next to Dex's stall, and drifted her eyes shut. What. A. Day.

It was nice to see students coming to the school, arriving and settling in. Today she had been out enjoying the sights of the horses. As odd as it was for the barrel racing and cattle evening teacher not to have a horse it did made since. Her horse, her partner was killed four years ago in the car crash that took away her freedom to walk. Making her forced to use her wheelchair.
As she sat in her chair looking at the horses she noticed a young lady bring her horse and all his stuff in. A smile came to her face as she wheeled herself closer to the girl. Noticing barrel reins she smiled even wider. So you are into barrel racingSTAFF POSITIONS " She asked as she looked at the resting student. She didn't really care that she was waking her up. After all there was plenty of time for sleeping at the dorms.

Jade yanked her head up. "What STAFF POSITIONS Oh, yeah, I do, some light gymkhana's, although my best is barrels." She smiled at the thought of a 17 second barrel turn she did before. When the girl was forced back into reality, she noticed the girl was in a wheel chair. Jade knew she shouldn't stare, but it was hard not to. The brunette shook out of it, and looked in her eyes. "I'm Jade. I actually just got here." She opened up the stall door and restrained her Arab with a rubber strap. "This is Dex. My barrel racing, reining, calf roping little creep." She chuckled, and rubbed his soft, white nose. "What's your name STAFF POSITIONS " Jade asked. She sat back down on the bale and pushed Dex back. Although he tended to be pushy, he knew when he was told to stop. The gelding might be quick and completely Arab-like, but he's not stupid. |

Those that stared didn't bother her as much as they used to. After all it was to be expected now. In away she just took as a compliment. After all she was an instructor most of her students have never seen an instructor in a wheelchair. So she takes it well now.
Listening to Jade she smiled at her and then at Dax. "He is very handsome. She said as she looked at him. "Nice to met you Jade. I am Ariel Rachelle. The barrel racing and cattle eventing instructor." She said with a nod of her head. "I hope you two are settling in well, and I hope to see your skills in call." She added politely with a nod of her head.

Jade grinned. "Settling in was easier than I thought, actually." She said. "It's quiet around here this morning. Maybe 7 o' clock is too early for othersSTAFF POSITIONS " Jade laughed. Okay, Dex decided to be annoying. She caressed his head in her arms, and stroked him. "You instructSTAFF POSITIONS That's nice. Maybe in the days to come, you could come and see us ride. I didn't plan on riding him today though, as he needs to get used to the place just as much as I do." Jade spoke fluently and confidently. "Although we are going to walk around, probably after I've settled into my dorm."She tapped her foot calmly, and glanced at her phone after it vibrated. The brunette rolled her eyes. "Sorry. My ex." Jade said unhappily. OOC>> Jade's got a lot to say xD |

 It was nice to hear that she was settling in well enough. "That is good, relocating can be hard sometimes." She said calmly. She knew it was true, heck those that said different where fooling themselves. "I suppose not. It seems to me that people tend to come alive around nine or so. I have been up since four in the morning, but I just couldn't sleep." She said as she thought about it. No, more people weren't quiet as up and att'em by seven o'clock most days. Some days where different thought.
"I will make sure to do that. I don't have a horse to ride myself. He was killed in the car crash that put me in this wheelchair four years ago. However, someday maybe I will have one to ride again. Until then I just watch students and teach them stuff." She said with a nod of her head as she looked at Dex again. Oh such a lovely beast. Hearing the buzzing sound of a phone he looked at Jade and then nodded. "Oh, been there, done that. He if he bothering you, you just have to be point blank with them." She added with a sigh. Oh dear, why was she trying to be helpful with exesSTAFF POSITIONS She hasn't dated in a little over five years.

Jade chuckled, "I'd let you ride Dex here, but he can be just such a weirdo sometimes, I don't need to be paying any Doctor bills." She grinned. Dex was a sweetheart, but he could be unreliable sometimes. Therefore, she only allowed herself on him.
Jade got up, and slid under the chain rapped in rubber. She grabbed up her hoof pick, and began picking Dex's hooves. One by one, they cleaned out, until Jade approved her job. The gelding nudged her, and cleaned his nose with her arm. "Hey, quit!" She laughed, and smiled. Jade wiped her arm on his fur, and slipped back out. "Sometimes he is so annoying. I mean, him and my ex." She added with a grin.
ooc. sorry. Just got back, need to get warmed up again =)

She smiled politely even though on the inside she was sad and frowning. "That is okay. I have been told by a doctor I only have a one percent chance of riding or watching again. However, it is a chance none the less." She said. Even though the chance was so low she still had hope to ride again. Maybe one of these days she will take that first 'step' and get up on the back of a horse again. She would have to learn to ride all over again. WhySTAFF POSITIONS Well she couldn't use her feet to make them go or anything, so she would need to learn another way.
Watching both Dex and Jade she gave a soft giggle as she lifted her hand to muffle the sound. "So how long as he been your partner in crimeSTAFF POSITIONS " She asked. She was joking about the partner in crime bit, but she was curious as to the answer none the less.

"eh, me and him have been together 4 years now. he's 7." jade smiled at dex. he tossed his head. "yes, I know you wanna get out. tonight, okay boySTAFF POSITIONS " she told him, and pushed him back. "I got him when he was three and trained him up. he came from louisville, when I was in knoxville." jade missed kentucky, the blaring trumpets, the arabians, the purebreds. but going to HA was for her own good. to improve her riding. her phone buzzed again. "I'm tired of him." she sighed, and picked up her phone. evry min of the dy. gve it a rst. gve up. she pressed enter, and jammed her phone back in her pocket.

She listened in silence. "SevenSTAFF POSITIONS That is quiet a few years. He must be a great horse for you then." She said with a nod of her head. "I know riders that get a new horse like they get a new car every couple of years. Or they get a new horse every time they lose a race. WhySTAFF POSITIONS I don't know I guess they think new is better for some reason. Or they are blaming the horse for losing." She said with a sigh. Oh, how those people drive her crazy. She was mainly talking about her mother, but she only guessed it was to try to feel some void she has in her heart now that her father is no longer on this earth.
"KentuckySTAFF POSITIONS I have only been there a couple of times. I grow up in California, but moved to Denver three years back before coming here. " She said as she remembered all the fun times she had with her father in Kentucky. Oh how she loved to see the horse races with him. Snapping out of her memories she looked at Jade as she said she was tired of him. "KentuckySTAFF POSITIONS Have you tried blocking him from texting you or calling youSTAFF POSITIONS " She questioned. She wasn't sure if you could block texts, but she know you could block calls.

"Yes he is. We clicked just a couple years ago." Jade looked at Dexter as the Arabian pulled alfalfa from his haybag. She laughed, and looked around. Horses tossed their heads anxiously, and she watched neighboring horses nipped at each other. Jade shook her head, "I can't block him, sadly, my phone doesn't allow it." She said with a sigh. Jade needed to upgrade her phone.think |

"Well it is good to see a rider that is bonded with their horse. Much better then a rider that sees a horse as a throw away able thing." She said as she looked away from the horse and from Jade. Eyes spotting something on the rafters she smiled even wider. "Is that an owlSTAFF POSITIONS " She questioned as she looked at the bird sitting there. Yep that is an owl alright. She told herself as she looked at it some more.
"That is too bad. Maybe next to he calls have someone pretend to be a number disconnected message." She suggested as she looked away from the sleeping bird of prey and looked back at Jade. Sometimes boys could be so annoying and simply not get it. What pests.
