RULES.
---------------------------------------
CTRL + F to find specifics. Searches may include:
- Creation
- Age
- Aging
- Breeding
- Points
- Cost
- Team
- Avatar
- BLM
GENERAL.
- The normal yada yada, respect yourself and others!
- Swearing is allowed, but don't get insane with it please.
- Try and make your posts lengthy enough that you give your post-mates something to respond to. DEPTH, people, DESCRIPTIONS!
- One account per character.
- Avatar sizes are approximate but should be no wider than 150px. Maybe even 140px. They can be up to 300px in height.
- Capitalize the first letter of your first and last name, ie. John Jacob Jingleheimer. **There is currently a code installed that capitalizes all letters but PLEASE DO THIS STILL.
- Since this is a highly competitive team-based equestrian center, there are many places to get into trouble, so naturally everything goes. Sex, drugs, rock and roll, weed speed and birth control... But use some common sense, follow the Proboards TOS!
- Time passage - every three weeks the season changes, and every three months (approximately as we go on a 12-week system) it has been a year, and your student/horse must age, unless they are a foal... Refer to the last bullet in breeding for more info on that.
CLAIMS.
- There are a few things to claim besides face -
- cell number - once you've claimed this, it is stored in the HA phone registry.
- email - once you've claimed this, it is stored in the HA email registry.
- IM name - once you've claimed this, it is stored in the HA email registry.
- dorm room - this will depend on your team, more information below in the "TEAMS" section. I will set up a dormitory in the correct spot for you as soon as your character is accepted.
CHARACTER BASICS.
- To help keep gender ratios even, from now on for every two female characters you create, you must make one male character. However, if you wish to make three (or more) male characters you do not have to have a female, since male characters are in such short demand!
- Check the face claim and post there immediately with your claim, I will put them in the "reserved" section until you finish your bio.
- No relationships between two owned characters, ie. you can't have your Sally and your John in a relationship, nossiree!
- All characters start off with $250, it will be added to your account once your bio is completed and accepted.
- You cannot exchange money between characters.
- You cannot sell a horse to yourself.
- This is a very realistic RPG ... Your characters need to eat etc, so keep that in mind and remember to buy food or go to the cafe every so often. Same goes with horses... But we'll get into that!
TEAMS.
- There are three teams.
- Fidens - this is Latin for courage.
- Cohaero - this is Latin for together.
- Polleo - this is Latin for strong.
- You can request a specific team but if there is an imbalance of people per team I may have to put your character on a different team.
- Your team decides your dorm board. If you're a male character and you're on Team Polleo your dorm would be in the "boys dorms" board, would have the prefix "P" and then a hyphen "-" and then your dorm number. For example School Zone category, Boys Dorms board, and then the subboard "P-892." There are "wings" for each team. Cohaero has the prefix "C" and Fidens has the prefix "F."
HORSES.
- Every character can own one horse to start, refer to the Horsemanship Points section.
- To own more than one horse, you must meet the HP requirement, and have the following points on each horse.
- second horse: 1000 on your first horse + HP requirement.
- third horse: 1500 on one horse + 750 on one horse + HP requirement.
- fourth horse: 2500 on one horse + 1500 on one horse + 750 on one horse + HP requirement.
- You have to be able to afford them. You have to deal with vets, and farriers on a certain scheduled basis.
- First horses start out with 250 points. It's up to the owner to keep a record of how many points per horse.
- When creating a horse, keep the disciplines realistic to the athletic abilities of the breed. Ditto when purchasing a new horse.
- Horses may have up to two realistically compatible disciplines. Horses at Hollow Aspen are supposed to be "the best of the best" like their riders. If you have any questions about this please ask!
- You can own up to two personally created horses at any given time. If you created Bob and Jeanette you can't create another one, but if John Jacob Jingleheimer created Rascal you can so buy Rascal off of John. Comprende
STAFF POSITIONS- Auctions and sales will be ongoing, check in frequently to see what's been added.
- Auction/sale horses have names but are not registered, you can change their name or keep it what it is.
- When you create, purchase or bid successfully on a horse it is your responsibility to fill out the registration form so your horse is acknowledged as existing on HA. The registration forms are ridiculously short and easy to fill out.
- To show or handle a stallion on exhibit grounds, the exhibitioner must be at least 18 years of age. To own one is any age.
- You can hire other people to ride/train your horse, as well as show. The rider points go to them and the horse points to your horse. You may have to pay them, depending upon who you hire. If you have two characters, Lacy and Lyn, Lacy can ride Lyn's horses - for free, and vice versa.
HORSE CARE.
- You need to keep track of feed and tack, as aforementioned, but vet and farrier are also a factor.
- The vet is on campus and is there for emergencies as well as basic veterinary care. Costs are posted, deals for multiple horses.
- The farrier comes on a twice-a-month rotation. The second and fourth week in every month. The second week is called "Schedule A" and the fourth week is called "Schedule B." Every time you register a horse they are assigned a schedule.
- Once on a schedule, keep an eye out on the farrier board for his next date. There will be announcements always in the main table, but you must respond to the thread with the appropriate information or your horse will get a big fat "missed."
- If you are away, the vet/farrier will automatically be taken care of/be ommitted.
- If you receive something involving the vet/farrier in the lottery... (Below) ... Attend to it!
BREEDING.
- You can breed your horses once they have 2500 points. Mares must be 5, and stallions must be 4. Geldings can't breed.
- To breed, post your mare/stallion stats in the foaling barn and Administration will get to them. You can request specific traits/qualities but... Don't hold your breath.
- The foal will have a number of points deduced from the parents total points.
- If you breed using someone elses stallion or mare for lease, you need to pay their fee first, and then THEY post their horses stats. ie, you post your mares stats, pay the stud owner, and then they post their studs stats.
- Young horses (3 & under) age every 2 weeks. If your mare foals, then the foal is a yearling in 2 weeks. Then 2 in two weeks. Then 3 in two weeks. So to age to 3 it takes six weeks total. After the age of 3 the horse ages every three months, which is a year rotation for HA.
PROPERTY.
- Each character can buy one piece of property from the real estate, and it can be as fancy or as simple as you'd like. If you want to buy a piece of property and already own one, you can sell to the Victoria Real Estate Agency for a set fee depending on the size, etc of your property. PM admin or post in the Real Estate board to find out how much you can get for it. You can ALSO sell it to another member, if there's someone interested!
- If you own your own stable you must fill out the form and PM it to Administration, and it will be addressed promptly.
- Boys dorms are off limits to girls and girls off limits to boys.
- A character must be graduated or an adult to purchase a house.
MONEY.
- You start out with $250, and you gain $50 per post as well as $25 for every positive karma received.
- The above amounts may be changed anytime, the community will be notified if this does happen.
- Go around "exalting" people, and they'll do the same.
- Administration may have random bursts of giving and hand out the dough. Seriously. We're nuts.
- Taking the time to show a horse earns you a minimum of $50, regardless of placing. IF you come in first, you earn $250. Second, $150, third, $100... Fourth and below is simply $50!
- Earn money by entering contests, offering services to other members (graphics) etcetera.
HORSEMANSHIP POINTS.
- You earn ten Horsemanship Points for joining HA per character.
- Other ways to earn credits can be found in this thread right [url=http://hollowaspen.proboards.com/index.cgi
