Goal for HA: ivy's life revolves around her dreams and goal in life. none of them seem to really all happen at one time, but rather scattered through her life. when it comes to strictly hollow aspen, well the standards are pretty high. it will be a huge transformation to come to such an upperclass riding facility. after coming from such a hicktown in the thompson okanagan, the city will be a whole new experience. ivy's hardest goal to achieve will be remembering who she is, and that winning isn't always everything in life. no matter how many ribbons you get, they won't bring the happiness that family, friends and horses will. then, when it comes to her schooling ivy is hoping to become a sucessful large animal vet tech.

Riding History: coming from british columbia, riding was fairly competetive. it wasn't something that everyone did, or swore by.. but it was very important to the brandt. ivy grew up on the well known brandt ranch where the bred high bloodlines of the quarter horses. mostly working cow horses. at age six she was enrolled in the 4-H program with her first mare breeze, who was young and slightly troubled. ivy was far from being a green rider, but insisted that breeze would do well as a simple horse for her to just hop on and go. after her first six months of staying at the brandt ranch, ivy's mom, telicia ended up attending a peter cambell clinic. peter mostly worked on the partnership between rider and horse, helping anyone that was in need of it. ivy went, just because it was her horse, but at the age he spoke of forgein language. something that made no sense at all. telicia continued to go to more clinics with him, and eventually breeze became more reliable. ivy then finished her next four years of 4-H with that project.
showing and competeing horses was never really her thing. she found much more interest at younger age to play with them in the field, or hit the trails. however when it did come to competeing, winning came very easily for her. no matter the horse she rode through. naturally, ivy could make any horse look like a champion, even if it was green. as ivy aged into fifteen she began to help start the young ones with her parents. she had lots to learn, and she attended some colt starting clinics put on by jonathon field, pat parelli and buck brennamen. for her it was easy to get into, as she enjoyed the feeling of those first steps of doing something right with the horse, and watching them quickly learn and advance. she really backed away from competeing and focused on the training aspect of things. when it came to the selling season however, she was usually the one who would bring them through shows to jack up their prices. no matter the horse she was on, high title ribbons just seemed to pull into her.
at sixteen ivy was getting the grasp of training the young ones, adding her own twists the better fit the horse and she still continued to show on hundreds of different horses. she also began to ride english, finding that some of the colts may have been bred for cattle work, but much rather enjoyed jumping. so she learned the ropes of hunter, english flat classes and little beginning aids for dressage. at the time, ivy was never in a set discipline, or owned her own horse. but simply just rode for her parents and learned a little bit about everything.
eighteen rolled around and she graduated with alright academic grades, but her life was more devoted to the horses. she was helping out on some neighboring ranches and helping out friends that may have ran into a problem with their horse. she was truely scattered all over the place and still showing for her parents she was kept busy over the summer. she had earned her parents plenty of money through selling horses, and although she had ridden lots and worked with such a variety of different characteristics in horses, she still didn't find the perfect one. at the time though, she wasn't looking for her own horse, she was too busy to deal with her own horse, and trying to get better with her schooling in order to get into hollow aspens.
at age twenty one, ivy's life finally settled enough for her to put in an application at hollow aspen. she truely wasn't execting to get in with such low grades, but figured that with her horse expeirence and good reputation in the show ring that it might give her a hope. her mother believed in her, but her father shot her down and told her to keep dreaming. as the year progressed, ivy found herself a horse. he was nothing special. just a dull, wormy black appendix gelding. he was tall, gangly and underweight at the time, but for reason she still doesn't know, she looked right past that and saw a good little horse. adopting him was a huge step for ivy, mainly because she was struggling trying to pay of the fees of adoption, but also dealing with such an animal that had little care done for him. the only nice thing about him was his feet. his feet were in good condition for being neglected. the rest of him however.
when roo came to the brandt ranch, he stuck out alot. he was lathargic, underweight and was in need of brushing. ivy brought him, settled him in a stall and got him some extra food and attacked him with brushes. his mane was long, nearly touching his shoulders and after the hack job ivy had to do to get rid of the tangled, it barely passed his neck. she fond plenty of wounds along his legs and for the first two weeks, he was wrapped to try and get some infections out. after the first two months of being on pasture, extra grains and proteins he was doing much better. she knew he was only three, and was barely halter broke. when he first came, he walked nicely.. but when he started to feel better, well then the true horse came through. he was very troubled, scared of everything and it took alot for ivy to control him. ivy worked with him, and by four he was out on rides. he was good undersaddle, just very scared of everything. she started doing arena work with him, and he enjoyed it a lot more, but he got bored really fast. ivy began doing a variety of different disciplines with him and found that he was just an overall pleasure horse. when it came the time that her mother wanted roo sold, ivy couldn't do it. with her extra six hundred dollars, ivy had roo adopted and knew that he would be in a forever home.
roo was her project from then on, only helping with problems that came on the way with other horses, but other than that, her time was devoted strictly to roo. she had completly forgot about her dream to attend hollow aspen, and competing. finding total satisfaction just spending time with roo. then, the letter came in the mail and she was accepted. petrified that she would have to leave roo behind due to finacial problems, ivy was thinking about passing up the oppertunity. dad on the other hand thought different and paid the extra money for roo to attend. now they await the new surroundings and the big city. who knows what will happen.

Example Post:Nares inhaled a heavy aching breath as pillars stepped off the ramp of yet another trailer. Fiery locks stained with blood from others rested over his dark mocha eyes, showing a tired, distance feeling. Nape hung his skull closer to the floor of the action place, a place that he became much too comfortable in. Whip banner slashed at his sides as blood patches ran over his barrel. Although there wasn't a single injury on him with the exception of a massive gash in the center of his chest that would be needing veterinary care, and the flesh wound that ran down his forehead an inch below his eyes, other than that, he he nothing else on him, though more blood stained him than what actually came from the wounds. Pillars were trembling, his stride unsteady and slow as shock continued to overtake the brute. Stumbling over his own hooves he quickly picked himself up with care, his knees running over the gravel floor, picking up dust particles as he struggled back to his feet. Tiara shook lazily as the buted equine wandered into a small rectangular pen. It wasn't the most desired place to go, but it meant he could stop walking. It hadn't taken long for the news to spread about the injuries of what seemed to be the flashy warmblood, under the caked blood, mud and clearly disaster.
Due to the kill of his once master, he had no name, no story nothing. He was simply just another brown horse, that looked like he was on his last legs. Depression swallowed the thin frame, his tiara lowered in his pen, gazing at the horse across him. Though there was still a fire, yet nothing he was familiar with. It was more of an aggressive fire, rather than the energetic, bubbly equine he once was, more than happy to please though at the moment he wanted nothing to do with pleasing. As a female of a little size, maybe only a few years of age had wandered up to the fence of the little paddock where the battered equine stood. Her voice was high, her arms flailing around towards him. Some how, his brawny bodice finding an energy he's never found, torso jumped forward and ivory fangs bared towards the female, jaw snapping near her hands, his twin audits laid against his skull like they never exist. Where this attitude came from, he wasn't sure, but he could feel his body craving something new, and different.
As the girl's scream of terror entered the brute's mind, satisfactory crushed his body and the feeling soon became a necessity. As the mother of the little girl pulled the little body away quickly and hurried along, the silence relaxed his tense muscles as his orbs closed quietly, his body turned away from the people wandering through the auction paddocks, gasping at the condition the brute was in. He knew he wasn't the handsomest horse in here, he wasn't the tallest, he was cleaned up to put the best show on and get the best price, he knew why he was here. He wasn't going to have a chance in that ring, he was going to rest it up in here for a while then will be moved into a cattle liner. Maybe it was for the best, his running low on faith and hope, but what else was left to do. Shifting his balance, he took a small sigh, lungs pressing against his rib cage before contracting, and then the process would be repeated.
Few hours had gone by, all of the two-legged species had left for the auction to watch as horses ran through, maybe finding forever homes or just going home to home like he experienced. Harks flicked back as the faint sound of the auctioneer's voice broke his silence, his nape carried his tiara up a little bit. The wound on his chest as tried and scabbed over , though as he lifted his head, the scabs were breaking and crimson liquid was beginning to run down his chest once again. Pillars were becoming shaky again, maybe because the slight pain reminded him of the accident, but after running through all optioned, he legs had decided they were going to just fold under him. His body rested in the shaving, his chest staining all of the wood shavings carefully, the side of his barrel leaned against the metal fence, his nape ached lightly as he rested the velvet maw on the pale brown shavings, orbs closing again in hopes of getting some more rest before his time was up.
