Kayla's pretty easy to get along with, for most people. Don't bother her when she's focused, be ready to go out on Friday nights, and be cool with not being her number one priority. She figures that she's here to ride and show and win, and if there's anything she can do to ride and show and win better, she's probably going to do it. As long as you can deal with some flaky-ness leading up to events, you're golden. If there's one dealbreaker for friendships, it's being a direct competitor to her. As long as you're not, you've got a good shot at being her friend. Read more about that in enemies.
lovers.
College is a risk-taking kind of time. Kayla considers love a risk. She really hates having a broken heart, and for years she's just closed herself off after a bad experience (when she was fourteen. It's been amplified in her brain and she remembers it a lot worse than it was), but she's at least semi-willing to pursue a relationship with a guy who also fits the criteria to be her best friend. Depending on the seriousness (and it would probably be pretty hard to get really serious with this one), the importance of a boyfriend would lie somewhere between best friend on the low end and horse on the high end. She probably won't ditch a date or avoid contact before a show, but she probably will be thinking about the show the whole time.
enemies.
Ooooh, enemies. Kayla has her fair share, especially since she manages to hate everyone who is real competition in the divisions she likes: horsemanship, western pleasure, and hunter under saddle. She also strongly dislikes anyone who thinks that what she does is easy, or thinks that she's abusing her horse.
